The MOLY XL Package

Made with a liquid organic molybdenum compound. It is completely oil soluble. There is no settling of the moly package, nor can it be filtered out. This special additive package improves anti-wear to an even greater level. It reduces friction, gives extreme pressure properties and leads to better fuel economy.

Quite often, with most commercial brands of lubricants, there is a need to stock two, three, four, or even five different types of oil. MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® SINGLE-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL helps reduce inventory needs and  offers superior protection for gasoline and diesel equipment. This means one oil with reduction in inventory costs and needs. It also means that you minimize the possibility of putting the wrong product in the wrong piece of equipment. These premium oils allow maximum protection and extended oil change intervals with laboratory analysis.

Made With High Quality Base Stock

Texas Refinery Corp. combines the latest technology in base stock refining techniques with superior additives for outstanding performance abilities. The base stocks go through several refining steps. Solvent extraction removes impurities from the oil. The oils are hydro-treated which improves the base oil's acceptance of the high quality additives. The base stock oils are also dewaxed to improve their cold temperature performance.

The solvent extracted neutrals have a natural high viscosity index which gives the finished engine oil greater resistance to temperature change. When the engine temperatures are high, the oil has less tendency to thin out. When the engine temperatures are cold, the oil has less tendency to thicken. Because of the special refining techniques, the base oils have minimum contribution to varnish, gum and sludge build-up.

Superior Friction Reduction

Possesses excellent friction reduction properties. The following graph compares commercial grade motor oil to MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® MOTOR OIL based on load.

The occurrence of friction is also related to temperature changes. The next graph illustrates how the friction coefficient of commercial grade oil compares to MOLY XL PRO-SPEC®.
Note that the reduction in friction continues with MOLY XL PRO-SPEC®, even as the temperature keeps climbing.

Improves Anti-Wear Features

Offers improved anti-wear properties. Using the Four-Ball Wear Test Machine, data was generated to plot Graph 3 on the following page. The Wear Ratio is the Wear Scar diameter divided by the Mean Hertz diameter for that load. A Wear Ratio 1.0 indicates no wear. 

The advantages gained from the MOLY XL Package are significant in these all-important areas of friction reduction and wear resistance. The microscopic moly particles cling to metal at all times, even when the oil has drained out of the engine. At start-up and during operation, the moly particles prevent metal surfaces from coming in contact with one another.

Uniform Moly

Texas Refinery Corp. uses extremely small particles of molybdenum disulfide for fluid products like MOLY PRO-SPEC® MOTOR OIL. This is a much smaller particle than the one used in grease. The moly is dispersed in the fluid with special suspension agents. Since the particles are less than .33 microns, they are small enough not to precipitate out of suspension and they flow freely through filter materials.

Moly is a blackish gray color and when added to the oil to make MOLY XL PRO-SPEC®  SINGLE VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL, the color of the finished oil is blackish gray.  

Gives Protection Winter & Summer

These motor oils provide protection in all temperature extremes. Its extremely low pour point is insurance on those cold winter days. Insurance in the form of easy starts, with oil flowing quickly to all vital engine parts. At the same time the engine receives the ultimate in protection because of its excellent viscosity at higher temperatures. Laboratory tests show that at 25°F. the average cranking speed of MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® SINGLE-VISCOSITY MOTOR OIL is 22% higher than commercial grade motor oils of similar weights.


Added Protection At Extreme Pressure

Formulated with extra pressure protection. Graph 3 not only shows improved wear protection, it also illustrates the extreme protection benefit. Better protection is provided when the MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® is subjected to loads above the normal anti-wear levels.

Protection at extreme pressure means extended equipment life and reduced down time expenses. Provides the ultimate in protecting your equipment and investment dollars.

Exceeds The Specifications

Meets and/or exceeds the latest gasoline engine oil specification SJ, as well as the latest diesel engine oil specifications CD II, CE, and CF-4. This oil is a tremendous improvement over previous specifications. For example, the engine sequence III E test shows it provides from up to eight times as much protection as most commercial engine oils against oil ring deposits. In addition, it doubles the valve train wear protection and also provides 60% improvement in sludge control.

The newest formula for this oil has a boosted detergency and oxidation stability. This oil provides lower oil consumption and better control of deposits. In addition, the increased detergency and oxidation stability in this product will allow better performance under severe operating conditions.

Contains Superior Additives

Contains several superior additives. One of these is the zinc anti-wear package. Texas Refinery Corp. uses two different types of high quality zinc anti-wear protection. One of the zinc compounds is activated by higher temperatures for greater protection.

Other additives contained in MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® inhibit rust, corrosion, oxidation and foaming. The oxidation inhibitor, in particular, has been beefed up. Texas Refinery Corp. is able to virtually eliminate sludging, and therefore, this oil helps allow longer drain intervals. The increased drain interval, with protection to the equipment, translates into a very economical oil.

Extra Metal Protection

Going one step further for the ultimate in protection, MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® with its exclusive MOLY XL package includes additives which serve as copper de-activators. This special formulation means extra protection for all copper and/or bronze parts in an engine. It's advanced technology for advanced protection.

Made For Gasoline And Diesel

In most operations using a commercial brand engine oil, several different oils will be needed. Can help tremendously by reducing inventory requirements. When you have one oil that can be used for both gasoline and diesel equipment, you can reduce inventory as well as eliminate some problems.

With Texas Refinery Corp.'s MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® MOTOR OILS, you can minimize the problem of putting the wrong oil in a piece of equipment. This should never be a concern with these high quality oils since it meets or exceeds diesel specifications (CD II, CE [SAE 30], and CF) as well as (SJ) gasoline specifications.

Improves Fuel Mileage

The MOLY XL Package improves fuel economy. The anti-wear characteristics and the improved friction reduction lead to increased efficiency. Tests have been conducted to determine the equivalent fuel economy increases. The realization of fuel savings was always in the positive column and ranged from 1.75% to 5.0%.

Rates High TBN Level

Has a high Total Base Number of 15 Plus. This high TBN level indicates how well itfights acids and their corrosive effects. Many commercial lubricants on the market have a TBN level from only 6 to 10.

There are many different ways to boost the Total Base Number of an oil. Texas Refinery Corp.'s MOLY XL PRO-SPEC® MOTOR OILS receive most of their alkalinity from the detergent value of the oil. Of course this is the most expensive way to go and it is certainly the most effective as well. High detergency TBN additives are more effective at controlling the overall effects of increased soot loading of the oil. The high Total Base Number end result is longer life and extended drain intervals.
