Wide Temperature Range Demands are placed upon today's equipment to be able to operate in much higher temperatures than ever before. To operate properly in these elevated temperatures, equipment must have special lubrication designed for use at higher temperatures. MOLY LITHPLEX is specifically designed to provide superior lubrication and protection for special uses. With a dropping point of 500° F. minimum, applications for use in Steel Mills, Coke Plants, and Blast Furnace Plants are examples of a few industries that can benefit from using MOLY LITHPLEX for their day-to-day lubrication needs. Traditional lithium greases have a typical dropping point of 350° F. to 360° F. Extremely high temperatures can cause these lubricants to actually melt and drip, thus reducing their lubricating ability. MOLY LITHPLEX stays put at high temperatures, protecting vital equipment as well as reducing grease consumption. Extreme Pressure Qualities With a Timken OK Load rating of 80 pounds minimum, MOLY LITHPLEX stays put where lesser greases fail to provide the protection for which they were intended. Some applications can place enough pressure on the grease to force it from the metal surfaces, allowing metal-to-metal contact. The extreme pressure qualities of MOLY LITHPLEX make it an ideal lubricant for most applications requiring special needs. Also, since it stays put, grease consumption should be considerably lower. Contains A Dry Film Additive By combining 5% Molybdenum Disulfide (Moly) with high temperature qualities and extreme pressure qualities of LITHPLEX, Texas Refinery Corp. has formulated a superb lubricant to use in even the most adverse conditions. Moly can be considered an added "insurance policy" against lubrication failure and breakdowns. When viewed under a microscope, metal surfaces are rough. Even though metal appears smooth, it has "hills" and "valleys." When a unit starts to move, the "hills" come into contact with each other. The resulting heat and pressure can actually weld the areas together. As the motion continues, the welded sections tear apart and the surface areas become rougher, increasing friction and wear. Galling and scoring can result from this metal-to-metal contact. Moly smooths over the "hills" and "valleys" of a surface, eliminating metal-to-metal contact. The metal surfaces are held apart by the Moly within the grease. As temperatures become great enough to volatilize petroleum grease, Moly is left behind to lubricate. Under conditions of continuous high temperatures, periodic flushing with MOLY LITHPLEX helps keep lubrication at its maximum. Adhesive And Cohesive In order to properly lubricate, a grease must cling to metal, withstanding movement and centrifugal force, or other conditions that could splatter and sling the grease. MOLY LITHPLEX has been specially formulated to be adhesive (cling to metal) and cohesive (cling to itself, or avoid pulling apart). It provides an excellent dust barrier . . . and seals out moisture that can cause rust and corrosion. Compatible With Other Lithium Soap Greases Lithium soap greases make up a good percentage of the lubrication in use on today's equipment. MOLY LITHPLEX will blend and mix with most of these other greases, proving to be very compatible and providing excellent protection. However, it should be noted, Lithium greases should not be mixed with other greases with different soap bases. These two incompatible types of greases can destroy the effectiveness of both, leaving equipment with inadequate lubrication. Versatile MOLY LITHPLEX has many superior qualities (i.e. 5% MoS2, 500° F. dropping point, and 80 lb. Timken OK Load) that make it an extremely versatile grease. It is recommended for general lubrication of passenger vehicles, trucks, and in farm, earth moving, mining, construction, marine, logging, and industrial machinery. MOLY LITHPLEX can replace several types of grease, thereby reducing inventory and providing economy through long life and inventory consolidation.
